Trading during high-impact news events involves additional risks, including rapid price movements, increased volatility, and reduced liquidity, which may result in slippage or unpredictable execution.
You may trade during such events; however, specific restrictions apply to certain instruments depending on when a trade or order was opened relative to the news event.
Restricted Window
A restricted window applies 4 minutes before and 4 minutes after a High-Impact News event.
What is allowed?
Trades opened, and orders placed, eight (8) or more hours before a High-Impact News event are permitted to remain open throughout the event.
These trades and orders may also be managed normally during the restricted window, including Stop Loss and Take Profit adjustments.
What is restricted?
Trades or orders opened within eight (8) hours before a High-Impact News event may remain open during the event. However, during the restricted window, you must not:
- Open, close, or modify trades or orders
- Place, execute, or modify pending orders
- Place, modify, or trigger market orders, limit orders, Stop Losses, or Take Profits
Affected Instruments
Restrictions apply only to instruments impacted by the relevant news event. For example, USD-related news may affect instruments including, but not limited to, EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDCHF, XAUUSD, GER40, US30, US100, and US500.
Cryptocurrency pairs are not subject to news trading restrictions.
What happens if this rule is breached?
A single violation of this rule is considered a soft breach.
Two soft breaches are considered a hard breach. Any gains or progress made as a result of a violation may be cancelled, whether the violation is a soft breach or a hard breach.
Profits generated in violation of this rule may be deducted, while losses remain the user’s responsibility.
Compliance controls may be performed at any time, including after completion of the evaluation phases.
